Everyone has the right to joy! Prescription Joy is the first organization to bring Therapeutic Healthcare Clowning to the Greater New Orleans Area. Our mission is to “promote healing through human connection, whimsy, education, and play in hospitals and beyond”. We are specially trained, trauma informed artist practitioners that use performance skills to transform a place of stress into one of wonder, releasing tension in patient bodies and making them more receptive to treatment. The specific type of human connection healthcare clowns provide transforms caregivers and patients in a hospital room back into a family again through sharing moments of curiosity, humor, and joy.
